Some places are shaped by weather.
Bergen is one of them – a city of rain, timber, steep roofs and water. A place where the landscape is never far away, and where warmth is something you build around yourself.
This Original Grundig from 1965 has much the same character.
Its dark wood frame is softened by a central panel of woven cane, repeated in narrow vertical bands that give the cabinet a quiet rhythm. Behind the doors, records sit neatly on either side of the concealed stereo components. Lift the lid, and the turntable appears – ready for another side.
There is something distinctly Scandinavian about its restraint. Nothing is exaggerated. The materials do the work: warm wood, woven fibre, brass details, clean lines.
It feels made for a room with low light, a record spinning, and rain somewhere beyond the window.
